First semester freshmen will be able to register for classes during Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR). During this one-day program you will meet with an academic advisor, and choose your classes. Completed reservations for SOAR are required. Students will be notified by e-mail and US Mail when registration for SOAR is open. Incoming freshmen will be notified by email as well as US Mail when registration for SOAR is open for this term.
When available to you, you may reserve your date through the MyBGSU web portal. Click on “My Orientation Reservation” under the “Academics” section on the left, and follow the steps on the screen to select and pay for your date. There is no charge for students to attend, but payment for family members and guests is required to confirm your date. Information on taking your Writing placement test online prior to SOAR can be found online. You will need to complete your placement tests at least two weeks prior to your orientation visit or as soon as possible. For more information visit the SOAR website.

Transfer students are eligible to register for courses with continuing BGSU students beginning mid-semester, prior to the term they wish to begin. To be advised and appropriately prepared to schedule classes, you must contact your college advising office. Talk with your advisor about placement test requirements at BGSU. Advising offices and other helpful phone numbers are found below. When contacting your college office to request an appointment, be sure to indicate that you are a spring semester transfer student.
